Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which is now in US theaters and doing very well for itself, is heavily mired in the franchise’s video game canon and other supplemental material. The people behind the first two films are totally spoiled for choice, which makes it all the more interesting when they introduce brand new characters like Agent Stone, the right-hand man of Dr. Robotnik who was first portrayed by actor Lee Magdoub in sonic the hedgehog. In a previous interview with Sonic the Hedgehog 2After his release, ComicBook.com had the opportunity to ask Majdoub how the character was created for him considering there are no traceable lore as Jim Carrey has about Robotnik or Ben Schwartz’s version of Sonic.
“For Agent Stone specifically, it’s very much about the script and what we developed and developed in the first movie and then on to the second movie,” Majdoub said when asked about creating Agent Stone. “What I did, though, is that I keep getting kind of energized like… well, how did the right side or something else do for Eggman and Robotnik, for example, what’s the switch in there? And how can Stone Stand up on his own?”
In other words, while Agent Stone is very much his own character, Robotnik’s companion franchise history certainly tells us about a worthless portrayal of the character. Specifically, how can Majdoub make Agent Stone stand out from the rest of the pack as traditional followers like Metal Sonic etc. It probably helps that Agent Stone, in general, doesn’t really have a significant human follower.
As mentioned above, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 It was officially released in the US in theaters last week. The sequel sees the return of main cast such as Ben Schwartz as the voice of the hedgehog of the same name, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, a police officer who befriends Sonic, and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, the classic villain and scientist of the franchise.
